Last month, 47-year-old Laxman accepted the BCCI’s offer after his predecessor Rahul Dravid stepped down to become the senior Indian team’s head coach.

Laxman was working as a mentor of IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad before accepting the position.
As far as his coaching experience is concerned, Laxman had also served as a batting consultant for six years in the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), which helped him with the aim of fostering and promoting grassroots talent in Bengal. Was selected from ‘Vision 2020’ program.
Apart from this, Laxman has also been a prominent figure in the commentary box.
As Dravid was entering the Indian team, Laxman had emerged as the front-runner to grab the top spot in the NCA.
